Our new Staff Assistant, Elisabeth Morrison, is no stranger to the SF Urban Program. A year ago, almost to the day, she was among the 22 other students waiting to enter the Urban House and begin her semester in San Francisco.Elisabeth (center) hanging out 'SF style' with some Fall '06 Urban students.
Now, she returns to take on the post of Staff Assistant, subbing for Ann Speyer who, with hubby Chris, are bound for the nation of Cameroon for a one year service opportunity. Since her time at SF Urban a year ago, she has dreamed of returning to San Francisco to live in the challenging environment of the city and engage in the unique culture and dynamic present here. As she prepares for graduate work in Occupational Therapy, she looks forward to experiencing the joys of living and working in San Francisco.
A 2007 graduate of Westmont College in Kinesiology, Elisabeth brings her love for people, her fluency in Spanish, and her great organizational skills, to serve the students and staff of SF Urban. During her internship last Fall, she served at St. Anthony's Foundation Free Medical Clinic, creating nearly 130 health educational materials in Spanish and English, to be distributed to the many clients the Clinic serves. She also had time for hands-on work with many of the patients as well as providing support services in the hectic Tenderloin office.
Since her time at SF Urban, in addition to finishing her degree at Westmont, she worked in Santa Barbara as a Therapy Aide in a Rehabilitation Center and as a Program Staff person providing recreational and social programs for persons with developmental disabilities.
As an Urban Alum, Elisabeth will be a valuable resource for the '07-'08 SF Urban students as they journey through The City and the SF Urban Program.
A word from Elisabeth: "I am so excited to be back in San Francisco and I am honored to be a part of the Urban program again! I look forward to getting to know the students this year and partnering with them as they explore the city, its people and all it has to offer. My experience on the Urban semester was very formative for me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to support other students as they learn and grow during their time in San Francisco".
